It's been a while.

Too much to update.  Instead, pictures are worth 1000 words.

So I popped my duathlon cherry...

Over the weekend, I did my first duathlon.  I sold my old race rig, so all I had left is a 1 gear bike that I modified for duathlon use!  On raceday, my beloved mother and sister send me the following text message:

Hello my son, how are you?  I am out with daughter, mother, and sister Mary.  I sincerely hope you kicked much roadie ass; love you lots!

Additionally, my friend woke up at 6am just to call me and wish me good luck!  With these two things combined, there was no way I could finish poorly!!!!!  The unfortunate thing was that I only started running 1 month prior, and my dumb 1 gear bike was going to be a major handicap.

.......In the end, I went home with a silver medal!

Team Cookie Monster represent!  I am such a noob that I was holding my medal in my hand rather than wearing it on my neck.  And as you can see, I had my bike gear on because I was ready to leave.  I simply said to my friend "let's stay and hear the times of the people who won so we can compare"...only to hear the announcer say Shaunessy Ma was the 2nd place finisher in the age category!

"no one updates anymore except for maybe me......see? blogging is a fad..."

Words from the wise Chris Chan.  Whatever dude, once I saw that, I am here to shut you down!

School's out for life.  What's new?  Time to build a life--that means no xanga, less biking, sleeping before it's dark out and being able to expand the mind.

Expanding the mind:

This entails the acquisition of the ability to become entertained at even the most annoying things in life.  My work days are so mundane that it actually became entertaining.  My mind has degraded (or, in this sense, "expanded") to the point where I find my training courses mildly entertaining--yes, I am fresh out of school and jumped right back into it...and I find it fun?  What's worse: the highlight of the day is driving back home in rush hour.  Total grid lock is a game...it's real life Tetris.  You think your fat car can fit in that little spot?  squeeze in, toss in the long brick block and bam--you eliminate 4 lines!  Tetris!!  If your car doesn't fit, then bam!!  You eliminate sheet metal!  You are now $6,000 dollars poorer!

See how exciting it can be?  Life can sometimes become so boring that you develop new abilities and see things in a different light.  For instance, did you know that during rush hour, the fastest lane is the slow lane?  Stay in there until an onramp starts to merge into the slow lane.  Switch over to the merging lane, hammer the throttle and zip past all of 3 cars before you have to squeeze in again.  Each time you do this, it must save you 10 seconds on your daily trip!  Just think--if you work as far from home as I do, you can save a whopping minute of your commute time--that's 2 minutes per day!!!!  With 2 minutes per day saved, you gain 12.7 hours of free time per year--that's one half of a day for pure vegging!!!

I car pool with two other people.  I've begun to notice the tensing of their bodies as I execute certain maneuvers and some relatively hard braking--hey, it's not my fault that I know how to dance on my pedals.

Life outside of work:

...wait, what?  Oh yeah, I forgot that apart from being a slave to work that I also put aside time in my day to visit the washroom at least 10 times.  Yeah, 10 times.  It doesn't help when you only drink water and always have that frigging water bottle with you at all times.  Man, I thought only babies needed bottles.

Oh yeah, I went to luminato:
